Susan Sarandon Bio

It was after the 1968 Democratic convention, and there was a casting notice for a movie with a variety of roles for the kind of young individuals who disrupted the convention. Two recent graduates from Catholic University in Washington DC went to the audition in New York for Joe (1970). Chris Sarandon, an actor who was trained for the role, was ostracized. His wife Susan was offered the role in the film as Susan Compton. She plays the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill, Susan's drug dealer lover, is killed in the film. Joe (Peter Boyle) is a bigot working in an assembly line next meets Joe (Sarandon). Janet is a character who falls in love with Dr. Frank n Furter, plays Janet in the film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). Sarandon was a fierce advocate for Annie in Bull Durham (1988) more than 15 year after her debut. She flew at her own expense from Rome, Italy from Italy to Los Angeles. She stated "It was an incredible script... it dispelled a lot of myths and challenged America's notion of what success is". "I had a few hours there with Kevin Costner, sex some men in the studio and then hopped back on a plane. Tim Robbins (1988), her Bull Durham supporting actor, already had two sons by 1992, which put Sarandon into a position where she could move out of her home and accept difficult roles. This was the result of four Academy Award nominations in 1990s as well as the award for best actress for Dead Man Walking (1995). Her first Academy Award nomination was for Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980).
